Heads of the following areas:
oR&D (Domestic & International)
oRegulatory

Profile
oResponsible for science and technology integration with the business
oIntimate understanding of Pharma / Biotech decision-making processes
oHelps set the strategy, interacts with investors and board of directors and guides the understanding of the science behind the products
oNuanced insight of how to approach particular organizations based on project type, therapeutic area, and development stage
oBuild a reputation as thoughtful, objective and experienced professional R&D team which fosters receptive audience within customers and stakeholders
Functional Areas:
oProduct Development
Scientific research on pharmaceutical products – small molecules & Biologicals
Development and implementation of technologies of Finished dose manufacturing starting from Early Formulation Development, Process development, Clinical Supply, Scaling up and Product profiling
Pilot scale manufacturing based on own technologies.
oAnalytical development
Understands development, validation, transfer analytical methods utilizing analytical instrumentation such as HPLC,
Lead the team that performs laboratory test (chemical analysis) in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations
Conducts searches on identified topics relevant to the research;
Records and interprets results to present to management/ regulators
oClinical Development
Design and execution of all phases of clinical trials
Familiar with pre-clinical development
oBusiness Development
 Interact with the Business development team and set the scientific direction and choose what projects to work on and what not to work on
Guides the BD team to initiate, manage and complete deals
oPublic Relations
The chief scientist officer helps set a company’s strategy and helps people understand the science behind the products
CSO’s activities often includes public relations, not only with the outside world of investors and the board of directors, but internally with researchers, clinical investigators, and KOLs.

Qualifications & Experience :
PhD / Post Doctorate level qualification in science/medicine preferred.
Additional MBA level qualification preferred.
Head of R &D and multi-dimensional leader with exceptional track record of vision, innovation, thought leadership, strategic agility, results and execution orientation.
10-15 years leadership experience at an executive level, preferably within the pharmaceutical business. Executive, who has been involved in a transformation, strong development and growth of the R&D organisation.
Strong leadership competencies. Cultivator and developer of individuals, teams and organizations; able to build for sustainability and scale. Able to build up superior teams and keep developing and motivating them.
Hands on person with a high level of ambition and motivation for a success.
Effective negotiation and problem resolution skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with both internal and external clients to meet corporate objectives.
High energy level; ability to drive an organization
and to create enthusiasm.
Needs to be fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
