The Sourcing Manager is responsible for the execution of Procurement activities within R&D Region APAC. As a team member in the Procurement Delivery Chapter, you are responsible for procurement strategy, for handling stakeholder requests and operational sourcing
The Sourcing Manager works with Procurement and Business stakeholders to understand requirements and execute the relevant sourcing process by applying appropriate methodologies, tools, and value levers. To support value delivery, the role collaborates with the respective Chapters/Functions in Global Procurement to address high-value end-user requests, and escalates opportunities for site, country or region aggregation and leverage. As part of the sourcing process the role also collaborates with legal and / or contracting functions to support contracting activities such as the preparation and review of master agreements, statements of work, change orders, or similar documents.
The Sourcing Manager for R&D has strong understanding in the market insights and strong understanding of internal stakeholder functions and spend characteristics, and effectively translates business needs into sourcing requirements. In addition the person should have a detailed overview of Chinese vendor capabilities and understand ongoing vendor market changes and how they impact the Roche R&D business.
The Sourcing Manager is expected to assert high levels of individual responsibility as well as work effectively in teams. In addition to providing high levels of internal customer service, the role also contributes to overall savings opportunity identification and delivery.
Your Responsibilities
· Develop category strategies for defined R&D services
· Execute operational sourcing requests, ensuring a focus on efficiency and the quality of customer service.
· Conduct operational Business Partnering with specific stakeholders within the region and in alignment with the respective Chapter/Functions in Global Procurement.
· Deliver Supplier Management activities for specific suppliers within the region and in alignment with the Global Category and Supplier Management teams.
· Act as a general point of contact for Procurement topics for local stakeholders.
· Apply the sourcing process through the application of tools (RfIs, RfQs, RfPs) for the delivery of operational sourcing activity, including the application of eSourcing tools. Support the implementation of new processes, policies, and technologies.
· Ensure that Procurement operational targets and metrics on customer service are delivered. Track and monitor these metrics where required and escalate issues as they arise.
· Support Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives related to suppliers, such as supplier diversity, anti-bribery, animal welfare, and so on.
· Identify and manage risk associated with R&D supply chain
Education, experience and skills
· Ideally a degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field. Alternatively compensating experience.
· Experience in Clinical Trial procurement or Life science related industry, ideally with knowledge of the latest scientific methods
· Business level fluency in English as well as Mandarin Chinese
· 3+ years operational procurement experience with experience in basic contracting, eSourcing and spot buying.
· Experience or demonstrated understanding in supporting cost reduction and value improvement programs.
· Good communication skills and demonstrated understanding of translating business requirements into procurement specifications with customer service in mind.
· Strong analytical, collaborative, communication and influencing skills.
· Comfortable in operating in an agile organization.
