  Job description
Lead a group of scientists to support the company’s discovery biologics services. The main
responsibility is to expand capability of drug discovery, protein expression, purification and the
associated characterization.
Responsibilities
1. Lead a group of scientists to expand capability and capacity in biologics discovery, protein
expression, purification and characterization. The expression systems include bacteria, yeast,
insect cells and mammalian cells.
2. Set department overall strategy and direction, also in collaboration with Business Development
units to expand service scope and capacity. Develop execution plan to realize long term goals.
3. Serve as a key technical subject matter expert (SME) and provide technical guidance to the
group. Provide coaching to junior scientists and develop their professional competence.
4. Draft and review service contracts in collaboration with BD; drive the execution to ensure timely
completion of services. Manage work and project plan according to timeline and functional
goals.
5. Maintain lab operations in organized fashion, standardize and streamline workflow to improve
efficiency. Understand and balance time and resource commitment with respect to business
needs.
6. Proactively communicate with upper management and stakeholders with regard to project
planning, execution and completion. Timely bring issue for awareness and discussion.
Qualifications
1. Have BS and PhD degrees in scientific fields (molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry,
etc.). At least 15 years of post-graduate working/industry experience in biology research and
biologics drug discovery field.
2. In-depth knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry, as well as knowledge of
biotechnology industry. Understand biologics development process.
3. Strong expertise and extensive experience in molecular and cell biology, protein
expression (transient and stable) in various systems and structural characterization. Indepth knowledge of protein drug discovery.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all or majority the following areas:
a) Molecular cloning: vector modification, plasmid construction, single/multiple site
mutagenesis etc.
b) Protein (Ab) drug discovery and screening using hybridoma and phage display;
Experience with other biologics modalities like RNA, vaccines is a plus.
c) Transient and stable cell pool/line engineering (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9/)
d) Protein purification by various chromatography techniques
e) Biologic molecule characterization using tools like HPLC, peptide-mapping, Western
blot, ELISA, SPR (Biacore), LC-MS, BLI, etc..
5. Experience of leading and managing a large group of people (>20 people).
6. Strong competency in communication, collaboration, and organization skills.

7. Analytical and diverse thinking to understand and solve problem with open-minded and
systematic approach.
8. Determination and initiative to solve difficult problem and drive through execution.
9. Track record of scientific publication in peer reviewed scientific journals.
10. Fluent in English and Chinese, with both verbal and written skills
