PrincipalResponsibilities1.FunctionsasatraineeStudyDirector.PriortopromotiontotheScientistlevel,theAssistantScientistwillhaveperformedsatisfactorilyforatleasta-12monthperiod*inassistinginallaspectsoftheStudyDirectorrole(asdefinedinthePositionDescriptionfortheScientist)andwillhavebeenjudgedbytheScientificDirectorandDirectorofToxicologytobecompetenttobeaStudyDirector.2.FunctionsasajuniorstudymanagerundertheguidanceoftheStudyDirector.TheAssistantScientistisnotpermittedtobetheauthorizingsignatoryonanydrivingdocument,butcanbeinvolvedinstudyperformanceasfollows:a)Participateinpreparationofscheduleofstudyactivitieswithincontributingdepartments.b)Abletoplanandcoordinateupcomingstudies.c)Abletomonitorandcontrolstudiesandproblemsolve.d)Abletoimplementandmonitorappropriatetechniquesoftestarticleadministration.e)AwareandconversantwithallassociatedSOPs.f)FullyawareofappropriateGoodLaboratoryPractices.g)Preparestudyschedules,protocols,protocolamendmentsanddraftreports.h)LimitedexposuretoclientcontactwithsupervisionofStudyDirectori)SatisfactoryperformanceinToxicology/OtherExaminationsrequiredforprogressiontoScientistI.3.Familiarizationwithappropriateregulations,guidelinesandguidances.4.TheAssistantScientistmustensurethatasafeworkingenvironmentismaintainedbyallprojectrelatedstaffthroughtheobservanceofsafetyprocedures,theuseofprotectiveclothingorequipmentandbythedistributionofrelevantsafetyinformation.5.ThismaybeperiodmayvarydependingonexperienceandtheapplicantsapptitudeQualificationsPh.D.,D.V.M.,M.Sc.,orB.Sc.inToxicologyorrelatedbiologicaldisciplineorsuitableotherexperience.Alternatively,thecandidatebeintheprocessofobtainingaScientificdegree.
